The “ideal” socket set for service engineers

Nerrad Tools, makers of the renowned Tapex kit, have recently launched what they term the “ideal” socket set for service engineers. The set comprises 37 sockets, bits and accessories in a robust compact plastic case, all designed to perfectly match the engineer’s requirements when servicing a boiler.

There are 13 chrome vanadium, chrome plated, ¼” drive sockets ranging from 4 mm to 14 mm, with accessories including three extension bars, universal joint,  ⅜”/ ¼” adapter/T-bar, smooth 72 teeth ratchet handle and ¼” drive socket (or spinner) handle.

All the sockets are shaped to drive on the flats of nuts rather than the corners, thus avoiding “rounding off”. There are 16 bits, manufactured from high grade “S2” steel; the range comprises slotted 4mm, 5.5mm, 7mm, T10 to T40, hex 3mm to 6mm, PZ1, PZ2 and PZ3, plus of course a drive adapter to attach the bits to the various drivers. The set contents are held firmly in an EVA insert tray, making them easy to remove and replace, clearly marked for ease of identification. The box itself is compact with rounded edges to protect client surfaces, a positive closing latch and includes a locking hole if securing the set is required.

Andrew Moore, Nerrad General Manager, commented “when designing this set we were conscious of the limited space engineers sometimes have to work within, so we chose ¼” drive sockets and a variety of different length extension bars; we also match the engineer’s needs with the range of socket sizes, 4 mm to 14 mm covers off the vast majority of boilers. The set is compact, light and easy to carry around, easy to use and excellent value – we think it’s ideal!”

The NT6400 37 piece socket set from Nerrad tools has a list price of £59.00 ex VAT and is available from all good plumbing stockists.
